Volvo Penta 4 blade folding hub kits for folding propellers

The Volvo Penta folding hub kit for 4 bladed prop fits all Saildrives including the 110S, 120S, 120S-E, MS25S, 130S and 150S Saildrive or in different sizes for a tapered shaft. First, choose the correct hub kit for your shaft or Saildrive, and secondly choose the correct 4 blade kit for your yachts length, displacement, engine and gearbox ratio. On a shaft, the hub kit uses a standard Metric or SAE taper and keyway size, dependant on the shaft diameter. Contact us for the keyway and taper standard measurements for each shaft if you are unsure.

As a guide:

The Saildrive hub fits 110S, 120S, 130S, 150S and MS25S drives
For 25 mm shaft, the key should be 6 mm, Metric Taper required 1:10
For 30 mm shaft, the key should be 8 mm, Metric Taper required 1:10
For 35 mm shaft, the key should be 10 mm, Metric Taper required 1:10
For 40 mm shaft, the key should be 12 mm, SAE Taper required 1:10
For 1 1/4" shaft, the key should be key 5/16”, SAE Taper required 1:16
For 1 1/2" shaft, the key should be key 3/8”, SAE Taper required 1:16
The pre-drilled hub is 8mm and will require final matching to the required shaft diameter, taper and keyway up to a shaft diameter of 31.75mm (1 1/4")

The correct 4 blade propeller is vital to get the most out of your engine and boat. The power range for the 4-blade propeller is 55-120 HP and it is available in 8 sizes with different pitches from 14 to 20. We can help to ensure the correct pitch is ordered. There is also a pre-drilled hub version with an 8 mm hole that requires final machining to the required shaft diameter and taper. It is, however, worth considering replacing the shaft with a standard Metric or SAE taper version if the existing taper does not match the standard measurements.

The Volvo Penta 4 bladed Saildrive hub is isolated from the Saildrive shaft electrically. This is why there is a hub anode fitted, to protect the prop. Some manufacturers folding props do not have a propeller anode fitted. We have seen corrosion and lower gearcase damage, particularly around the edge of the bearing housing on a Saildrive due to the propeller not having rubber bushing or an anode to galvanically isolate the propeller from the Saildrive. Any corrosion on the Saildrive should be repaired immediately to prevent more corrosion.
