Volvo Penta D4 and D6 heat exchanger O-ring set.
Volvo Penta D4 and D6 engines must have their heat exchanger and oil cooler (intercooler) O-rings changed every five years as the maximum.
This is a set of 8 O-rings required to complete the task. Failure to change the O-rings on any D4 and D6 can result in saltwater leakage around the end cap joint, which can damage/corrode the housing, often requiring a new heat exchanger casing to be installed.
We strongly recommend not using aftermarket O-rings, as the casings are expensive to replace should the O-rings fail to protect the system.
Once the heat exchanger has been removed from the engine, the stack will need to be removed and cleaned, and the heat exchanger reassembled, ideally pressure tested and painted.
