Volvo Penta exhaust elbows are specifically designed and specified by Volvo Penta for the following types of diesel engine: D1-13, D1-20, D1-30, D2-40, D2-50, D2-55, D2-60 and D2-75 yacht series diesel engines, MD2010, MD2020, MD2030, MD2040, 2001, 2002, 2003, TAMD and KAD series.

Genuine Volvo exhaust elbows are made to Volvo Penta's design and specification to ensure safe and correct cooling out at sea. We supply genuine Volvo Penta parts both to UK customers and to Volvo Penta owners abroad.

Never fit a stainless copy exhaust elbow onto any Volvo diesel. We have seen too many exhausts, fracture or explode.

It is important that owners check the exhaust elbow, especially part number 861906 for carbon build-up and rust within the water jacket outer. If the engine has been run for long periods at very low revs, or at idle, carbon can build up and block the exhaust causing exhaust breathing and starting issues. Rust can block the water jacket within the exhaust elbow, and restrict water flow to the transom. This can cause overheating or the engine to ingest water and hydraulic. This can often be terminal.

Exhausts should be removed and checked to determine their condition. On average, a genuine exhaust should last about 6 to 10 years. If in doubt, our advice is to check or change it. Remember to buy a gasket when removing any exhaust.
