Volvo Penta TAMD 72 Series
Technical specification: TAMD72A, TAMD72B, TAMD72 EDC, TAMD72P-A series diesel range. Manufactured from 1991 to 1997. Inline 6-cylinder, 430- 450 hp. Oil capacity is approximately 30 litres of VDS 4.5 oil depending on inclination.
The Volvo Penta TAMD72 is an in-line 6-cylinder, fresh water-cooled diesel engine.

The heat exchanger and air cooler on any TAMD72 should be cleaned and all the "O" rings changed, every 5 years to prevent overheating.
A TAMD72 diesel should run on Volvo green coolant. Please do not mix or change the coolant type once one has been used. If you are running on Volvo Penta green coolant, continue to use green coolant. Do not use VCS yellow coolant as it can cause it to gel and blockages will then occur within the cooling system.
