Volvo Penta TAMD 61 Series

Technical specification: TAMD series diesel range. Manufactured from 1986 to 1995. Inline 6-cylinder, 306 hp. Oil capacity is approximately 20 litres of VDS 4.5 oil dependant on inclination.

The heat exchanger and air cooler on any TAMD61 should be cleaned and all the "O" rings changed, every 5 years to prevent overheating.

A TAMD61 diesel should run on Volvo green coolant. Please do not mix or change the coolant type once one has been used. If you are running on Volvo Penta green coolant, continue to use green coolant. Do not use VCS yellow coolant as it can cause it to gel and blockages occur within the cooling system.
