Genuine Yanmar exhausts should be removed every few years and checked for carbon build-up and corrosion. We strongly advise that a genuine Yanmar exhaust is replaced with another genuine exhaust, as these are critical to the safe reliable operation of your engine out at sea. Never run any Yanmar for long periods out of gear or at low revs, as this leads to a build-up of carbon within the exhaust elbow, blocking the ability of the engine to breathe.
