Technical Specification: Current D9 series diesel range. 9.4 litre, in-line 6-cylinder, 425 hp to 570 hp. The oil capacity of approximately 31 litres of VDS 4.5 oil. The Coolant capacity is approximately 39 litres.
The D9 Volvo Penta diesel is the current model. The Volvo Penta D9 is a 9.4 litre, in-line 6-cylinder fresh water-cooled engine, quiet and environmentally efficient.

The heat exchanger and air cooler on any D9 should be cleaned and all the "O" rings should be changed, every 5 years to prevent overheating and joint corrosion. Older D9 diesel engines may run on Volvo green coolant and newer ones may be using yellow VCS coolant. Please do not mix or change the coolant type once one or another has been used. If you are running on Volvo Penta green coolant, continue to use green coolant. Mixing yellow and green coolant can cause gelling and blockages within the cooling system.
