This is the exhaust elbow or water injection elbow for a D6-300 A-G. Exhaust elbows are a common cause of overheating and poor exhaust flow of water into the exhaust.
The exhaust on a D6 should be checked at least every 5 years by removing it and checking for carbon build-up and corrosion.
