2 Blade Folding Blade Kits for Folding Propellers HP
Genuine Volvo Penta 2 blade kits fit onto the hub kit to complete a 2 blade folding prop installation. A Volvo Penta prop is designed specifically to improve speed and reduce drag significantly. A folding prop can increase performance by up to 1.5 knots whilst under sail and stop the shaft or Saildrive from turning, under sail.
The Volvo Penta folding propeller comes in 2 parts. First, choose the correct hub kit for your shaft or Saildrive, and secondly choose the correct blade kit for your yachts length, displacement engine hp and gearbox ratio.
The correct propeller is vital to get the most out of your engine and boat. The power range for the 2-blade propeller is 5-40 HP and it is available in 15 sizes ranging from 14 x 7 to 19 x 13 pitch.
If you need help in sizing your propeller, please call us first. As a general rule, the power range for the 2-blade propeller is 5-40 HP, the 3-blade propeller is 25-60 HP and the 4-blade propeller is 55-120 HP.
Typically, to give an example of efficiency, a folding propeller will reduce a Chanel crossing by 4- 5 hours.
Please note all Volvo Penta Props are referred to as folding propellers. It is not recommended to install a feathering type propeller onto any Saildrive installation.
